Artemisinin drug resistance and monitoring: a narrative review

چکیده

Artemisinin drug resistance is one of the major reasons for malaria treatment failures in sub-Saharan African countries where artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) first-line uncomplicated malaria. The occurrence single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) found to correlate with antimalarial resistance. With artemisinin, SNPs occurs at Kelch 13-propeller gene locus on chromosome 13. artemisinin surveillance strategy involves continuous monitoring biomarker detect emergence mutations which could herald region. In this narrative review paper, we examined existing literature bridge knowledge gap and accentuate importance routine Africa. We conducted our search PubMed database Google Scholar identify peer-reviewed articles, reports, abstracts using following keywords; ‘artemisinin resistance’, ‘antimalarial ‘artemisinin-based therapy’, ‘Kelch 13-propeller’, ‘K13- propeller gene’, ‘K13 molecular marker’. provided pertinent information derivatives, therapy, action definition resistance, genetic basis discovery 13, surveillance. Molecular can provide healthcare policy makers a forecast impending threats treatment. This more so when drugs are instance, give hint that failing despite fact combination, it still apparently clinically effective.

A Review on Therapeutic Drug Monitoring of Immunosuppressant Drugs

Immunosuppressants require therapeutic drug monitoring because of their narrow therapeutic index and significant inter-individual variability in blood concentrations. This variability can be because of factors like drug-nutrient interactions, drug-disease interactions, renal-insufficiency, inflammation and infection, gender, age, polymorphism and liver mass. Drug monitoring is widely practiced ...

NARRATIVE REVIEW A Review of Drug-Induced Hyponatremia

Hyponatremia (defined as a serum sodium level ! 134 mmol/L) is the most common electrolyte abnormality in hospitalized patients. Certain drugs (eg, diuretics, antidepressants, and antiepileptics) have been implicated as established causes of either asymptomatic or symptomatic hyponatremia. However, hyponatremia occasionally may develop in the course of treatment with drugs used in everyday clin...

Adverse Drug Reactions, Nursing and Policy: A Narrative Review

Medicines’ management is a priority in healthcare delivery, but weaknesses in the monitoring and management of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) cause unplanned hospital admissions, financial burdens on healthcare systems, patient discomfort, morbidity, and mortality. This paper suggests policies and strategies that would help nurses minimise and manage ADRs to prescription medicines. The literatur...

The mean duration of influenza v...
